Nilüfer'le Pay Pal hesabınızı açtınız. Satış yapmaya da başladınız diyelim. Paralarınız hesabınızda birikti. İşin en zevkli yanı. Bunları harcamak istiyorsunuz. Nasıl yapacağız?
Pay Paldaki hesabınıda mutlaka en az 20-30 dolar her zaman bulunsun. Bu renewler, Etsy komisyonları için kenarımızda dursun. Bunun dışında ben hesabımdaki parayı yurt dışı alışverişlerim, reklam giderleri, vs... için kullanıyorum.

Paramızı hesabımıza geçirip Türkiye'de kullanmak için ne yapmalıyız?
İki seçenek var. Kredi kartınıza ya da banka hesabınıza para aktarmak.
Kredi kartınıza aktarmak isterseniz 5 lira komisyon kesiliyor. Banka kartınıza aktarmaktan komisyon alınmıyor.
Aktarmak istediğiniz para 10$ dan az olmamalı. Alt limit 10$. Hesabınıza o anki kur üzerinden TL olarak yatırılıyor. Bu işlemin sonucunda paranızın hesabınıza geçme süreleri yukarıdaki ekran görüntüsünde görebilirsiniz.(tıklayarak büyütebilirsiniz) Ben 2 günden fazla beklemedim şimdiye kadar. İşlemin ertesi günü hesaba geçtiği de oldu.

Paypal'i kac gun once anlaticaktim aslinda size. Ama Amerika'da yasadigim icin Turkiye'de islemlerin ayni olup olmadigindan emin degildim. Saogolsun hafta sonu Sesiber'le telefonda gorusme firsati bulabildim. Hemencecik benim sorularimi yanitladi. Eger yanlis yazdigim birsey olursa kendisi duzeltecek.

Paypal aslinda ebay'in bir yan kurulusu ve internette guvenli bir sekilde para transferi yapmaniza yardimci oluyor. Dikkat etmeniz gereken bir kac noktaya baslamadan once deginmek istiyorum.

1.Hesap acarken kullandiginiz butun bilgileri mutlaka bir yere kaydedin. Cunku bilgilerinizi unutursaniz ve hesabi acarken kullandiginiz kredi kartinin numarasi degisirse, adresiniz degisirseniz Paypal'daki bilgilerinize bir kere daha ulasabilmek cok ama cok zor.

2.Tum islemleriniz, para gonderme alma vs. tamamen e-mail adresiniz uzerinden oluyor. Mutlaka esas mail adresinizi verin, eger e-mail adresiniz degisirse paypal bilgilerinizi hemen duzeltmeyi unutmayin.

3.Paypal hesabiniza girmek icin link veren bir e-mail alirsaniz BU LINKI ACIN AMA BILGILERINIZI SAKIN GIRMEYIN! Ayni paypal sayfasi gibi sahte bir web sayfasinda ara gorunum olusturup sizin bilgilerinizi caliyor olabilirler. Actiginiz linkin www.paypal.com/...... seklinde olmasi gerekiyor. Eger bambaska bir yere sizi yonlendiriyorsa link sayfasini kapatip bu maili lutfen aynen spoof@paypal.com adresine gonderip maillerinizden siliniz.

Bugun sizlere Paypal'da ve Etsy'de hesap acmayi anlatacaktim ama son dakikada bu is icin sermaye konusunun sira itibariyle daha onemli oldugunu dusunup bu konuya deginmek istedim.

Genel itibariyle siz:
1. Profesyonelce calisiyor olabilirsiniz,
2. Hali hazirda mevcut bir satis sistemini olabilir veya
3. Kendi ev butcenizden faydalanarak yaptiginiz urunleri satmak istiyor olabilirsiniz.

Birinci ve ikinci asamaya giriyorsaniz zaten sermaye yapiniz hakkindaki tum calismalari yapmissinizdir. Bu konuyu ben ozellikle ilk defa satis yapacak arkadaslar icin detayli aciklama geregi duyuyorum.

Dun hatirlarsaniz satis yapacaginiz urunu nasil secmeliyiz kisaca deginmistik. Peki bu dukkanlari acmanin size maliyeti ne olucak?

Etsy'i az cok anladiniz. Acaba sizde burda dukkan acip satis yapabilirmisiniz? Neler satilir neler satilmaz? Ingilizceniz cok az, resim cekmeyi bilmiyorsunuz, herkes treasury'den , FP den bahsediyor. Facebook, twitter, reklam verme ve bunlari duydukca korkuyormusunuz?

Cok acikca soyluyorum bunlardan dolayi korkmaniza hic ama hic gerek yok. Adim adim baslarsaniz 1 ayin sonunda Etsy'i avucunuzun ici gibi bilmemenize imkan yok!

Oncelikle dukkan acmadan once alin kagidi kalemi elinize. Baslayin yazmaya, neler yapmaktan hoslaniyorsunuz. Taki, dikis, dekorasyon, sac aksesurlari, orgu ormek, dantel, hic mi yeteneginiz yok (ayni benim gibi!) o zaman belki birseyler alip satabilirsiniz (Biliyorsunuz 20 yildan eski antika ve malzeme alip satabilirsiniz!)

Kim ne satis yaparsa yapsin, kendi tarzinizi yaratin. O zaman bu is cok ama cok daha zevkli olucaktir.

2.Illaki cok fazla yapilan nbir sekilde uretim yapmak istiyorsunuz. Mesela ben taki yapabiliyorum bir tek ama cok satan var diyorsunuz. Bizde herhangi bir ETSY Grubuna dahil olmadan dilimizin dondugunce sorularinizi en fazla 4 saat icinde buradan cevaplamaya calisacagiz. ISOT ETSY TURKISH TEAM IS CLOSING

Iki yil once internet uzerinden satis yapmak isteyen arkadaslara destek amaciyla kurmus oldugum bu grupta bugun itibaren yolun sonuna geldik. Bu karari almak benim icin gercekten cok zordu. Ama bircok dukkanlarin acilmasina ve mukemmel dereceye gelmelerine sebep oldugumuzu bilmek bu uzuntumu nispeten hafifletiyor.

Bir ruyam vardi neden Turkler yapamasin diye, 2 yilimi bu dusun pesinden gecirdim ama maalesef baskalarinin dusleride benimki gibi gerceklessin derken kendimden kat kat fazla vermek zorunda kaldim. Bu sure zarfinda maalesef Turklerin hayatindaki 2 olayi daha iyi anladim. 80 doneminde kardes kardesi kirdi derlerdi ya bir onu, birde rahmetli Aziz Nesin'in Turk karakterini ne kadar guzel aciklamis oldugunu.

Bu grupla birlikte bircok guzel arkadasliklar edindim. Hepsinin kalbimde ayri bir yeri var.

Today I'd like to introduce to you lovely Etsian Colette. She made us very big surprise and create our Famous Turkish Leader Ataturk's words to print with her style. We are honored very much. I'd like to thank her for all the Turks.

Merhaba and Hello!

I am so happy to have met the ISOT Ladies and it is an honor to be interviewed!

My name is Colette Urquhart, I live and work in a big dome-home in the town of Mount Shasta located in Northern California, USA.

My mother’s parents come from a small village in what today is Romania, but in 1910 it was still Austria-Hungary. My grandma, Paulina, is 98 and is still making things! She does a lot of needle work including crochet, much like so many of the ISOT ladies do.

My father is retired from United Airlines and my mother loves to travel, so growing up we travelled all over the world. My mom stayed at home to take care of me and my sister, but worked making crafts, mostly dolls and Christmas ornaments.

My sister, Sue, is an Etsy seller. Her shop is lulubugjewelry; she works in precious metal/silver clay. She has been designing jewelry for many years for other people, but after one year of selling on Etsy she quit her day job and is a full-time Etsy seller.

In 1998, I made a set of alphabet stamps that I cut out from erasers, and that is when I started making prints with words. I began making prints like the ones in my Etsy shop in January of 2009 and I can’t stop!

Traditional printmaking techniques are pretty complicated and precision is important. I’m impatient and I don’t follow instructions very well so I experimented and came up with what I call the ‘raw art letterpress’ process. It is essentially the same as traditional letterpress, but I use cardboard for my printing plates and I cut out each letter from playing cards. I have at least 200 different plates and I usually make a new one every day.

The printmaker I admire most was a Catholic nun named Sister Corita Kent. She was known as the “joyous revolutionary. Almost all of her later prints include words, her messages are political, but she speaks about peace not politics. I suspect she would have agreed with Ataturk: Peace at Home, Peace in the World. She is no longer living, at www.corita.org you can find out more about her.

I started selling on Etsy on June 26th, my shop was called “Project Speak Love” (this is the name of a program I am starting and is to be the shop for that program). I didn’t think I would sell anything, but I listed some prints anyhow. I was very fortunate in that my sister was the front page featured seller soon after I opened and, much to my surprise, I had customers! She makes jewelry from my prints that she sells in her shop, so I get a lot of customers through her.

The biggest surprise was that I did not anticipate meeting so many wonderful people when started my shop. I love to make treasuries and have met so many people that way. Seeing the things people create, both their own work and the treasuries they make, says so much about them. I caught on to the spirit of the Turkish sellers right away - it seemed like they were always having fun and supporting each other!

A few months ago I made a treasury called ‘Merhaba’ and it included work by Turkish artists. From that I met many wonderful people. Nesrin (from gullist) and I have been writing since then, she is teaching me (a little) Turkish. I asked her if there was a Turkish saying about peace or hope and she offered Ataturk’s words, so I made a print of it. Then I found out that October 29th is Turkish Independence Day.

I am starting to teach some teenagers this printmaking process and hope the program will grow. We all have something to say, and I believe it is important for young people to be heard. When we get together, we talk about what is important to them, or what they want to express - it doesn’t have to be pretty or ‘nice.’ They usually come up with a concise way to deliver their message because they have to cut out each letter and it has to fit on a certain sized cardboard plate!

My hope is to bring this technique to kids all over the world and to have an online gallery as well as an opportunity for them to sell prints through the Project Speak Love Etsy shop. This is a simple and relatively inexpensive process, you don’t need to be a great artist to teach, but you may need a lot of patience and compassion. I don’t know if this is true amongst Turkish people, but many people I know think they have little to offer creatively, or that what they make isn’t ‘good enough.’ A while back, someone with a lot of experience offered me this wisdom: we cannot know how what we create, no matter how small, influences others. What you have to offer is necessary for all of us, so stop holding on to your gifts, get out of your own way, start somewhere and make something!

Likewise there is no act of kindness too small: Nesrin wrote a brief note from which so many blessings have come to me. The print of Ataturk‘s quote won’t change the world, it is a small thing in and of itself, but making it has changed mine. Wow, I guess that was his point!

The Etsy blog's Shop Local series usually tickles my travel bug, but in this edition, Turkey by Etsy seller Toosis, has my jaw dropping on my computer keyboard. Such beautiful photos and talented artists!

My name is Pınar Sondal, aka Toosis. I am an architect and a jewelry designer living in Istanbul, one of the most beautiful, exotic and cosmopolitan cities to live in. Istanbul is a city of two continents; Asia and Europe divided by the water way of Bosphorus. Its shores offer a delightful mixture of past and present, grand splendor and simple beauty. Modern hotels stand next to shore front wooden villas, marble palaces, rustic stone fortresses and neighbor small fishing villages. I live in the Europe side of the city. The Asian part is just across the Bosphorus Bridge.

The above picture was taken in a park very close to my house. I walk here with my kids and get mused before starting a project, enjoying the view while they play. I use silver and gold in my designs, creating big rings and earrings. I show my line of jewelry in local haute couture boutiques. Since I discovered Etsy and started sharing my taste in design with the rest of the world, I feel blessed. A performer needs to hear the applause to feel appreciated. Now I get my inspiration required out of my international customers' Etsy feedback.

Tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Inci Turegun. I was born in Istanbul, TURKEY. I studied business administration at university, but I always loved foreign languages, history and archaeology.

I started to correspond with a Japanese girl named Tomoko as a part of my English studies when I was still a middle school student. Through her letters, I took an enormous interest in Japan, the Japanese language and the Japanese culture and I started to learn the Japanese language from a Japanese teacher as a hobby in Istanbul. Through my private Japanese lessons, I fell in love with the country and the culture and then when I took a Japanese-speaking tour guide license, my love for Japan and the Japanese language turned into a way of life. In the mean time, I made several trips to Japan and made a lot of friends over there. I had worked as a tour guide for 10 years and then I married to a Turkish-born American citizen and I moved to Oklahoma City, USA 3 and half years ago.

What are your interests?
As I wrote earlier, I always loved foreign languages, archaeology and history. Japanese language had been my favorite hobby so far, but in the US I gained another passion: patchwork quilting. And it’s also thanks to a Japanese lady named Midori living in Oklahoma City and she is coincidentally a friend of one of my Japanese friends in Japan.

Patchwork quilting is a new passion for me. I didn’t attend any courses to learn it. Mrs.Midori was my first teacher. She kindly taught me the basic steps about patchwork. Right now, my knowledge about quilting comes from mostly the books and magazines in Japanese language which I can read easily. I like the self-teaching approach in learning things. And my husband thinks that I am quite good at teaching myself stuff. I am hoping to make further progress in quilting in the future.

How did you find out about Etsy?
I first discovered Etsy through a friend who is also a Etsy seller, which is You, Nil! I was thinking about putting my quilted handicrafts on Ebay, but I was scared of it! I loved Etsy, because it was so user-friendly as a shopping site. And especially I liked that everything on the site was handmade!

Please describe your creative process:
I am interested in mini quilts. I find it hard to start and finish a huge bed quilt up. I don’t have a suitable place to spread to work on the project, or necessary tools, so my main interests are mini wall quilts or practical little things such as purses, bags, pouches you can actually use in your daily life.

I like hand piecing, hand appliqué and hand quilting. I don’t like the machine stitches on the quilts. I don’t know how to machine sew and I don’t have a sewing machine, but I am not sorry for that. I like the rustic feel of hand quilted quilts and I find the time spent in hand quilting to be soothing. The motion of stitching is very calming to me and during these quiet moments I can concentrate on my thoughts easily.

One of the essential steps about patchwork quilting is picking up a pattern and necessary fabrics for that particular project. I have my Japanese friends in Japan sent me Japanese patchwork magazines regularly. Japanese patchwork magazines are very easy to understand because they present the projects in process drawings unlike American magazines, and very fun to look at if you don’t understand the Japanese language. I have an advantage because I know how to decipher the writings in Japanese. These magazines are full of lots of fun projects to make which I like very much. I usually choose my patchwork projects from these Japanese magazines. Once I finished the project, I take a picture of it right away and post it to flickr groups which I’m a member of.
How do you promote your work?
I’m trying to promote my work mostly in the Etsy forums, flickr and several blogs. And I tell about my Etsy shop to all of my acquaintances. That’s it.

My name is Pinar Sondal. I am married with two kids. I was born in Pennsylvania USA, 1975. I studied Architecture at YTU, Istanbul . I am still working in Istanbul as an architect in my family company TETISAN. I started designing jewelry in 2001. In my designs I use fresh-water pearls, semi-precious faceted stones such as quarts, amethyst, peridot, jade, aquamarine, citrine, and onyx combined with sterling silver and gold with several techniques.

Other than designing jewelry I can proudly say I am a crafter… I enjoy making and buying hand crafted items. Because of my profession I know a lot of digital programs and I also did my own website so I love digital arts too. Please describe your creative process
Semiprecious stones are my real inspiration… It all starts with shopping for gemstones for me. Their colors and shapes make my imagination work right away. I love sketching before starting; it’s a habit from my architectural background. Then the processes of metal working with silver start… The most beautiful part is that a piece is done with in a day, mostly a week… I always take a picture of my unique pieces because once they are sold, you may not find a similar stone again and.

How do you promote your work?
I try to present my work with proper display units and I prepare nice gift bags for my customers. I try to make them feel unique and hope they will choose to buy from me the next time they are shopping for jewelry.
